Michael Caputi has been involved in the coating industry since 2001 when he began his career as the CEO of Epoxytec prior to Tnemec’s acquisition in 2021. Michael became an industry leader and expert as he focused on specializing in coatings that could perform in harsh water and wastewater environments. Michael was the co-chair of the NACE Section of south Florida and held both a NACE certification for coating inspection and also an SSPC certification for concrete coating inspection. Michael continues to lead efforts in his current role as Vice President of Epoxytec LLC where he participates in Epoxytec’s technical authoring and collaborates with committees involving coating design, rehab methods, and structural lining designs. Michael also contributes to the company’s research and development efforts as a bridge between chemists and the field.
Vaughn began his career at Tnemec in 2002 served as a Senior Technical Service Representative specializing in epoxy technology development, failure analyses, specification review and internal and external technical development. Vaughn transferred to Tnemec’s sales department in 2005, and after seventeen years as the Director of Sales for the Water and Wastewater market for Tnemec Company, Inc., Vaughn O’Dea was promoted in 2022 to Director of Epoxytec where he manages all facets of sales, marketing, technical support, and growth of the Epoxytec brand. Vaughn has authored numerous technical reports and articles for publications such as the Journal of Protective Coatings and Linings (JPCL), Materials Performance, Public Works Magazine, Concrete Repair Bulletin, Inspect This!, Concrete Surface, Trenchless Technology and WaterWorld. He is a SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist, a NACE-Certified Coatings Inspector, and a NACE Certified Corrosion Technician, and a NASSCO Manhole Rehab Inspector. Since 2009, Vaughn has been a contributing editor for the Journal of Protective Coatings and Linings (JPCL). He was the recipient of the JPCL Editors’ Award in 2009, 2011 and 2012, JPCL’s The Clive Hare Honor: Top Thinkers Award in 2012, SSPC’s 2013 Outstanding Publication Award, and JPCL’s Readers’ Choice Award in 2020.
Silvia Caputi has been a part of Epoxytec since 2010 and was its executive vice president prior to Tnemec’s acquisition in 2021. She began her professional career as an educator in south Florida, in the Broward County school system. In 2010, she transitioned to the coating industry, where she joined Epoxytec International Inc. to become the marketing coordinator. Silvia’s role within the company grew as she became the executive vice president and corporate director of Epoxytec International Inc., overseeing the finance, administration, and operations departments. Joining Tnemec, Silvia supported efforts as Epoxytec LLC’s Director of Business Transition and facilitated with the process of merging one family business with another to continue the success of Epoxytec in the coating industry. Currently Silvia serves as the Marketing Manager for Epoxytec LLC.
Originally a biology major, Ross Davidson found his scientific passion in the realm of chemistry and additionally pursued a second degree, with an emphasis on biochemistry. Working for Epoxytec, Ross soon discovered another one of his passions: manufacturing. “Working in the coatings industry has provided me a wealth of knowledge in GMP and GLP, supply chain management, equipment mechanics, and leadership. My time with Epoxytec has been phenomenal and has provided me with the opportunity to do great things outside of work, such as get married and start a family, which has in turn inspired me to redouble my professional efforts. Other passions include, the Expanse book series and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which have taught me the value of hard work and perseverance, as well as what it means to truly be a team.”
