Charleston CPW Demo Manhole Rehabilitation
Charleston CPW partnered with ECAN contractor RCI of Ravenel, SC, to evaluate Epoxytec’s protective lining technologies on a deteriorated sanitary sewer manhole. With the guidance of Tnemec/Epoxytec sales representative Nick Vause, the project served as a demonstration of Epoxytec’s system performance and resulted in Charleston CPW approving the use of Epoxytec products for future rehabilitation work.
The rehabilitation began with Epoxytec Mortartec Ceramico, a high-strength epoxy-modified mortar used as the underlayment to rebuild the deteriorated brick substrate, fill voids, and establish a stable surface. Once the structure was restored, Epoxytec CPP Trowel-Liner was applied as the topcoat. This 100% solids, ultra-high build structural epoxy provides corrosion resistance, chemical protection, and infiltration control, creating a monolithic lining system designed for long-term performance.
The combined system transformed the deteriorating manhole into a fully rehabilitated, durable structure built to withstand future challenges and extend service life.
