Product Description

A new technology available by Epoxytec – waterborne epoxy primer for use over properly prepared masonry or wood surfaces. Designed as a primer over dry or damp surfaces prior to the application of epoxy and/or urethane topcoats. Can also be used as a standalone protective sealer. It is no longer necessary to endure the odor, toxicity exposure, and fire hazards of typical solvent-borne two pack epoxy finishes to obtain the performance characteristics of such coatings. Utilization of B2 Primecoat™ provides the combination of high performance with low hazard.

Typical Uses

Mainly, but not limited to, applications for- concrete floors, concrete or brick walls, suitable for any similar architectural or structural concrete or wood application. Sealing and chemical resistance enhancement.

Surface Prep

The success of any coating application is directly proportional to the completeness of the substrate preparation and the care the application crew puts into the application. Surface must be clean and sound. Remove all dust, contaminants, grease, curing compounds, rust, impregnation, waxes, foreign particles, and disintegrated materials from the surface, in order to achieve a clean and profiled surface.

Concrete: Prepare the concrete by abrasive blasting, high pressure water cleaning, and/or approved mechanical method to achieve clean, sound, and profiled concrete. Prepare concrete in accordance with SSPC-SP 13/NACE No. 6. “Surface Preparation of Concrete.”

Wood:Remove all grease, oil, dirt or other foreign matter by solvent or detergent washing. Prepare wood surface by abrasive sanding and washing

Application Method

Mixing:
Material is supplied in 2 containers as a unit. Always mix a complete unit as supplied (3B to 1A by
volume). Thoroughly mix B Component before adding A Component. Combine entire contents of Part A and Part B and mix thoroughly with a Jiffy Mixer or equal for 3-5 minutes. B2 Primecoat™ can be applied directly to most conventional surfaces or coatings with no need for an intermediate coating. This allows the user to upgrade the chemical and solvent resistance, as well as the impermeability of a surface or coating with no fear of lifting or poor adhesion to old coatings.
Induction Time:None required.
Equipment – Spray:DeVilbiss MBC-510 gun; E tip and 704 air cap; 3/8” ID material hose; double regulated pressure tank with oil and moisture separator. Airless Spray: minimum 28:1 ratio pump; .013” – .017” orifice tip; ¼” ID Teflon material hose; 90-100 PSI line pressure. To obtain maximum edge protection and film build, conventional or airless spray is recommended. Thoroughly flush equipment with water.

Equipment – Roller:
Application by other methods, brush or
roll, may require more than one coat. Apply B2 Primecoat™
at 4.0 mils wet which will yield
2.0 mils dry film thickness.
Short nap roller cover. Dynel recommended.

Film Thickness

B2 Primecoat™ can be a single coat or multiple coat system. B2 Primecoat™ can be applied onto a cementitious surface at 4 mils WFT / 2 mils DFT (minimum) per coat. For a total coating thickness exceeding 2 mils DFT, multiple coats are necessary.

Storage & Handling
Shelf Life 18 months, sealed. Storage: Store in a dry area away from direct sunlight. The product should be conditioned to between 40 o F and 85 o F before use.

B2 Primecoat

Epoxytec B2 Primecoat™is a water-borne epoxy primer and base coat for concrete applications and other substrates.

The water-based epoxy technology acts as a barrier coat primer and penetrating sealer. The B2 Primecoat™ is easy-to-apply by spray, brush, or roller.  B2 Primecoat™ is surface-tolerant for enhanced performance properties for industrial priming and sealing of concrete and other surfaces.  Often utilized to condition surfaces prior to coating.
